Installing and Configuring WDS and MDT 2012 Update 1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Part 2

In part 1, I installed WDS and MDT 2012 update 1 in MS01. In this part, I will download required components in MDT 2012 update 1 and create "Deployment Shares".

Downloading required components for MDT
1. On MS01, log in as Domain Administrator.
2. Click "Start > All Programs > Microsoft Deployment Toolkit > Deployment Workbench" to launch "Deployment Workbench".
3. On left pane, expand "Information Center".


In this pane, it shows which components are required and let administrators download it.

4. On central pane, select "Windows Automated Installation Kit (x64)".
5. Click "Download".


Remark: You can also download above components from Microsoft web site and install it by yourself.

6. Click "Install" when "Windows Automated Installation Kit (x64)" was downloaded.


7. On "Welcome to the Windows Automated Installation Kit Setup Wizard" window, click "Next".
8. On "License Terms" window, select "I Agree".


9. Click "Next".
10. On "Select Installation Folder" window, click "Next".


11. On "Confirm Installation" window, click "Next".
12. On "Installation Complete" window, click "Close".


Creating New Deployment Shares
1. On MS01, log in as Domain Administrator.
2. Launch "Deployment Workbench".
3. On left pane, select "Deployment Shares".
4. Right-click "Deployment Shares", select "New Deployment Share".


5. On "Path" of "New Deployment Share Wizard" window, change "Deployment share path" to "E:\DeploymentShare".


6. Click "Next".
7. On "Share" window, leave default share name.


8. Click "Next".
9. On "Descriptive Name" window, leave default Deployment share description.


10. Click "Next".
11. On "Options" window, un-check all options.


12. Click "Next".
13. On "Summary" window, click "Next".


14. On "Confirmation" window, click "Finish".


Remark: By default, the share permission of "Deployment Share" folder is "Everyone - Full Control".


As a result, "Deployment Shares" was created.
